Adventure Ho!!!

This week on the show we talked about the Adventure Vault Guide, or at least the first half of the guide. We covered a lot of ground in the episode. However, I want to hone in a little bit on how your character molds to an item. Lets say your a level 8 Eladrin Ranger. You are pretty much of the forest in most logical scenarios, taking in to consideration variables on the theme, like one that was given to a human family somehow...good idea you should try that.... so it follows that if you receive an item of that heritage, it should evolve your character. So let's say you go into a swamp dungeon, and in there you find a feyhide armor. That armor is made with animals akin to your magical origin, your characters need to feel connected to that armor.
To often we as player character tend to meta the game, I being an offender of this sensibility often, and only look at the combat advantages of an armor. Granted that 4e does lend itself to a more combat style game. But we as players of this game should never forget that DND is a roleplaying game, you need to evolve your character once and awhile. If you just end up battle siming the entire game, you miss a huge chunk of gooeyness that is RPing.
Thanks for reading,
Andrew
